From a Shared Vision
to Real-World Change
Spread Care Foundation was born out of a recognition that too many communities across Ghana were being left behind — not because of a lack of potential or resilience, but because of limited access to education, economic opportunities, mentorship, and support systems.
Founded in 2023, SCF was established by Alhassan Tahiru, a PhD researcher in Global Governance and Human Security at the University of Massachusetts Boston, together with a dedicated group of Ghanaians passionate about community transformation. The organisation’s roots are in Northern Ghana, a region that has historically faced underinvestment and complex social challenges — but its vision is national.
“We started SCF because we saw the gap between the potential of our communities and the support they actually received. We decided to help close that gap.”— Alhassan Tahiru, Executive Director & Founder
What began with a small team and a clear purpose has grown into a multi-program organisation running education, mentorship, skills development, peace promotion, and humanitarian initiatives — all designed to empower individuals, strengthen communities, and build a more equitable Ghana.
SCF is founded by Alhassan Tahiru and a founding team with a shared vision of empowering underserved communities across Ghana through education, mentorship, and humanitarian support.
SCF launches its two flagship programs — distributing learning kits to students in underfunded schools and establishing a peer mentorship network connecting youth with experienced mentors.
SCF scales its programs, adds digital skills bootcamps and community health days, and deepens its presence in underserved communities, reaching over 300 individuals through its combined initiatives.
SCF partners with the National Youth Authority on a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in Tamale, expanding its humanitarian health work and demonstrating its capacity for high-impact partnerships.
SCF launches its peace education and community dialogue programs, broadening its mandate to include social cohesion and conflict prevention as foundations for sustainable development.
